Prof (Mrs) Florence Modupe Osalusi is a Professor of Social Studies Education and was born on 5 March 1955in Ikere-Ekiti, Ikere Local Government Area, Ekiti State. She attended Holy TrinityPrimary School, Odo-Oja, Ikere-Ekiti from 1960 to 1966 andobtained her primary school leaving certificate; African ChurchComprehensive High School, Ikere-Ekit ifrom 1969 to 1973 for herWest African School Certificate (WASC); C.A.C. Teachers’ TrainingCollege, Efon Alaye-Ekiti from 1975 to1976 for her Grade IITeachers’ Certificate; Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife toobtained her Teachers’ Grade I Certificate in 1985and Bachelor’sDegree (Hons) Second Class, Upper Division (Social Studies) in1990; University of Ibadan (UI) from 1993 to 1995 for Master ofEducation (M.Ed) Degree (Social Studies)where she emerged thebest student in the Social Studies Unit; and University of Ado-Ekiti now Ekiti State University, Ado-Ekitifor her Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) Degree (Social Studies) in 2011.
Professor (Mrs) Osalusi is an erudite scholar, a born teacher, and an administrator par excellence. She taught for many years in Primary and Secondary schools. She started her academic career in the College of Education, Ikere-Ekiti in 1990 as a Graduate Assistant and later joined the services of University of AdoEkiti, now Ekiti State University, Ado-Ekiti as a lecturer I in 2007. She rose meritoriously through the ranks and became a Professor of Social Studies Education in 2017. She is a member: Social Studies Association of Nigeria (SOSAN); National Council of Social Studies(NCSS), USA; National Association of Curriculum Theorists (NACT); Nigeria Association of Professional Educators (NAPE); Nigeria Union of Teachers(NUT); Fellow: Reading Association of Nigeria (FRAN); Fellow: Institute of Policy Management and Development (FIPMD), among others. She is an embodiment of integrity, hard work, and scholarship, a mentor to many societies and clubs in her community. She has a passion for academic excellence, which manifested in her ability to supervise successfully 18 PhD and many M.Ed theses. She has served as an External Examiner (PhD and Master’s) at University of Ilorin, Kwara State; Obafemi Awolowo University(OAU), Ile-Ife, Osun State; University of Ibadan (UI), Ibadan, Oyo State; Olabisi Onabanjo University, AgoIwoye, Ogun State; Tai Solarin College of Education, Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State; and Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba, Akoko, Ondo State.
Prof (Mrs) Osalusi had held many academic and administrative positions in the University system successfully which include among others: Head of Social Studies Unit of the Department of EducationalFoundations and Management, Faculty of Education, 2007-2014; Coordinator, Affiliate programmes, DCEP, 2010-2011; Assistant Director, Affiliate Programmes, DCEP, 2012-2015; Acting Head of Department, Social Science Education, 2015-2017; the Ag. Director, Institute of Peace, Security and Governance and the Centre for Gender and Development Studies, EKSU, 2020-2022. She is the immediate past President, National Association of Women Academics(NAWACS), Ekiti State University, AdoEkiti Chapter (2020-2024) and a member of Senate of the University. She has also served in many Senate committees and as a member of Sexual Harassment Committee of the University. Her research interest is in the areas of contemporary social issues in education, human resource development, and nation-building. She has immensely contributed to knowledge through extensive publications in these areas; attended and presented quality papers on national and global issues at conferences/workshops in Nigeria, London, Dublin, Canada, U.S.A., among others, and has published 65 scholarly articles in reputable journals across the world. She continuously participates in national and international Seminars/Workshops organized periodically for school administrators, education supervisors, policy makers, and re-training of teachers through continuous professional teacher development programmes.
