About SOSCED-J

The Department of Social Science Education was created from the Department of Educational Foundations and Management, Faculty of Education, Ekiti State University, Ado-Ekiti, Nigeria.. The Senate of the University approved the Department on the 30^th of May, 2012, and  formal operations of giving admissions to qualified candidates began on the 17^th of August, 2015.

The foundational lecturers of the Department are:

At present, The Department runs Bachelor Degree programmes in the following four disciplines:

1. Ed. Social Studies      –     This program domiciles fully in the Department.
2. Sc (Ed) Economics      –
3. Sc (Ed) Geography      –        (2,3 & 4) Run in collaboration with the cognate Departments within the Faculty.
4. Sc (Ed) Political Science  –

The four programmes were fully accredited by the National University Commission (NUC) in 2015/2016 Academic Session. Since the take-off of the Department, the number of academic staff has significantly increased from six to fifteen. The Department began floating an academic journal- Social Science Education Journal (SOSCED-J)- in 2017 and has since then published three (3) volumes of the journal.

The Department is also running postgraduate programmes- M. Ed, M. Phil /Ph.D and Ph. D- in Social Studies Education. At the same time, the Department has also designed programmes for M. Sc, (Ed), M.Phil/ Ph.D and Ph.D in Education/Economics, Education/Political Science and Education/Geography, which are expected to take off soon subject to the approval of the University Senate.

SOSCED-J is a multi-disciplinary journal which strives to cater for the needs of researchers, academia, and scholars. The Journal is focused on areas of research that are connected with the following disciplines: Education, Humanities, Science and Social Sciences.

Authors are invited to submit their manuscript(s) for publication. Papers demonstrating high standard, theoretical and practical implications will be peer-reviewed and considered for immediate publication. The Journal publishes twice in a year.

1. The title of the paper and the sub-heading should be highlighted and clearly stated. It must include author’s name and affiliation, full address including phone numbers and e-mail address to which correspondence could be sent.
2. The abstract should be between 200 and 250 words in italics, with focus on the purpose, methodology, findings and recommendations. There should be a maximum of 5 keywords below the Abstract.
3. Articles should be typed in double-line spacing in Times New Roman font (12 font size) on A4 paper. The 6^th APA Referencing Edition must be used.
